Whoa, what? Molly actually updating her Livejournal? For the first time in four months? What a surprise!

Well, yes. Four months. In those four months, I completed my first semester of college (in London!) and came home to perpetually unchanging and perpetually boring Connecticut. Fabulous. And now I feel like I have no life and am practically having a mental breakdown, so even more fabulous! I have been periodically checking the friends page when I could find time, though there wasnt too much of that. Now, however, with just under a month off before I go to real!college, I'll be creeping and stalking and reading up on your lives.

Annndd that is it, I guess. Nothing really interesting. I am applying to colleges in the UK and Ireland, though, so I might whine about that! And applying to some unis here as well. So. Lots of college whining. And starting to write a book! So yay.

gahhh my life is so dull.
So dull that I stole the 2009 survey from Mad and Allie.

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?

Got into college, graduated high school, drove to Boston by myself, travelled abroad, went to a gay bar, saw firsthand the wonders of universal healthcare, saw someone get stabbed, saw really famous people, bought many fabulous things, had (and fell in love with) Thai food, drank alcohol for the first time, had a semi-quasi-not-really first kiss.

2. Did you keep your New Years resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I never make them. I think they’re kind of dumb.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Gross, no, thank GOD.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Yes. My Aunt Lucille. And while I was away, too. That was a fun week.

5. What countries did you visit?

England, Ireland, France

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Permanent residence in the UK. To be published. To be on stage again.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory and why?

Halloween. I spent it in a McDonald’s in Galway City, Ireland because we had no where else to go and were too poor to buy another night at the hostel before we left for our bus back to Dublin. We were hit on by Irish boys dressed as cowboys-- Keith Urban, too-- and watched drunk Irish girls puke outside in the rain in the middle of a parade with giant paper mache heads on pikes.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Cooking for myself. Getting into college.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Being rejected by BU.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I was sick in bed for a week and a half in London. It sucked. Majorly. I had to go to the hospital.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

All of my clothes back in London. And the fab vintage jewelry I stocked up on from the markets there.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Lt. Dan Choi. My herooooo.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

My friendish Ashley. Sorry, gay boys don’t “forget” their sexuality because they’re drunk. No, you cant make out with them. And no, homosexuality is not a disease. Stop being such an ignorant hypocrite, kthx.

…/end rant.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Food in London. FML. I just should have starved.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Going to London! Seeing Rachel Weisz in Streetcar! Going to Ireland! Coming home from Paris because I fucking hate that city! Possibly getting my article published!

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?

“Kids” by MGMT.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

happier or sadder? SO much happier. This has been the best year of my life.
thinner or fatter? No idea, maybe thinner?
richer or poorer? HA. Oh, definitely poorer. Thanks for raping my bank account up the ass, London.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Worked more. Shit knows I needed the money. And I probably should have studied seriously for my APES exam.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Worrying about college.

20. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?

I spent it with the fam, eating terrible food and watching a gayboy movie on my computer.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?

Yes. With London.

23. How many one night stands?

24. What was your favorite TV program(s)?

Trinity. Ohhhhhh my god. Oh my god.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

26. What was the best book you read?

Entertaining Mr. Sloan by the wonderful Joe Orton. If that counts. Probably doesn’t.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Je ne sais pas.

28. What did you want and get?

To have an answer about college, which I obviously got. To not regret turning down one of the best arts schools in the country, which I don’t.

29. What did you want and not get?

An acceptance letter to BU. Some self-esteem.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

I didn’t see too many movies, really. Not that I can remember. Oh! 500 Days of Summer. It was wonderful and creative and imaginative and I loved it.

31. What did you do on your birthday?

I bought a lottery ticket, my dad took me out to breakfast, I went to get Indian food at my favorite restaurant with my friends, and then I don’t remember.

32. What one thing would have made your year more satisfying?

Staying in London.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Brogues. Vintage jewelry. Cardigans. Trench coat. Patterns.

34. What kept you sane?

Writing, my tiny room in my house in London, having freedom.

35. Which celebrity did you fancy the most?

Garrett Hedlund and Wentworth Miller, big surprise. James Franco DEFINITELY worked his way up, as well as the adorable BBarnes.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Anti-gay legislation. Fuck you hard in the asshole, America.

37. Who did you miss?

My best friend SJ. I hate you, US Navy.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

My friend Julien, the most adorable boy on the planet. And Kyle, who is a bitch and hilarious and unapologetic and I adore him. And Brigid, hopeful potential roommate.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.

I shouldn’t be afraid to take chances-- whether its on my outfit or my life. I need to work hard for the things I want, and the world really is open to me. Also, I leaned America kind of sucks. A lot.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

You were a child
Crawling on your knees toward it
Making momma so proud,
But your voice is too loud

Control yourself
Take only what you need from it
A family of trees wanted
To be haunted

The memories fade
Like looking through a fogged mirror
Decision to decisions are made
And not bought,
But I thought this wouldn’t hurt a lot.
I guess not
